Following the success of last weeks 20 coaching business tips, this week Ive got 20 performance athlete tips that Ive picked up along the way, feel free to add any of your own in the comments section.

1. Be creative, have fun.

2. Find out what the player wants and aim to meet their needs.

3. Get the player to take ownership ie. keep stats, record lesson notes, post round analysis, weekly practice planning.

4. Have a clear personalised strategy for how to help improve your clients results

5. Check and challenge them regularly, encourage them to do the same to you.

6. Watch them compete, Golf and Golf Swing are different games

7. Understand where coaching technology fits, You cant use them on the course so ensure players aren't too dependent. Beware of constant error detection dont overlook reinforcement.

8. Recognise the difference between teaching and coaching. A coach is a vehicle that helps somebody on a journey from point A to point B in the most efficient way possible.

9. Ensure you recognise its your clients who are struggling that need you the most, egos will follow success.

10. Try to build a team around players. 3 brains are better than one just ensure the communication doesnt conflict. 1+ 1 =3 Synergy. (Covey)

11. There is some fantastic coaching "language" out there. Ensure you use the right language in the right "country" its no good being fluent if nobody understands you.

12. Vice versa dont be overawed by coaches that speak other languages use it as an opportunity to learn something new. But if you dont understand..ask!

13. During practice try to create struggle and frustration, this is where learning takes place. The Ugly Zone (Alred) Coach players through this.

14. Players/ Clients will leave you, often looking for something fresh. Don't take it personally, dont burn your bridges. Genuinely wish them success and look at what you could do better. Its about them!

15. Strive to be better at just being you, have a passion and love for yourself helping others.

16. Know what your non negotiables are be fueled by curiosity (redman)

17. You dont have to have all the answers.

18. Be consistent with your delivery.

19. Take pride in your environment, make it an inspiring learning environment.

20. Work to Live, dont live to work.

1. Establish a target market and learn how meet them ,treat them and keep them!

2. Build authentic relationships with clients and find ways to get results, a sure fire way to build a successful business. "People dont care what you know until they know that you care!"

3. Get a website, keep it simple and keep it updated, so easy to do yourself now or pay somebody to do it for you.

4. Better not to have a website than to have a poor one, be aware of typos and how it shows on other platforms.

5. Build a client list...so so so important.

6. Get an online booking system, clients that have approached you through social media probably want to book online too when it suits them best.

7. Tell your clients when you wish to see them again, tell them when you are available, book them in. Dentist coaching.

8. Get on social media, Twitter, Facebook etc build relationships with people, let them see what you do. When online be efficient.

9. Use google analytics from your website and blogs to shape your marketing strategy, what works, how many people see it and what patterns occur. Stats are feedback golf or business.

10. Streamline your business tools keep initial costs low, I use edufii for clients, Dropbox for storage and Evernote for day to day. All sports comparison tools compliment these. Cost..free!!

11. Try to text or message a couple of clients every week to keep the conversation going, it's about relationships.

12. Clients will come and clients will go, it's the nature of the business, 99% of clients have a life span! measure this with analytics tools, booking systems and don't take it personally!

13. Genuinely care for your clients, be prepared to go the extra mile, Inspire and give world class customer service.

14. Remember they are clients that use your services, you don't own them they are not "your player"

15. Don't discount, instead add value! Just because the whole industry offers "buy 5 get 1 free" doesn't mean you have to, don't get boxed in.

16. Work hardest on your time management, this means more productivity, improved income relative to time worked, and ensures you aren't treading water but are moving toward your goals.

17. Feedback is great good or bad, you will make mistakes, the secret is not to make them twice.

18. Read, study, get mentors who are willing to share, pass this knowledge onto others, it's not what you know but what you do with it.

19. Surround yourself with positive people, those that see the possibility in adversity. Don't let people drain you.

20. Work to live, don't live to work.
